Honest Apothecary Reimagined – New Topics!

Spread the love

As you may have read in my previous post, this blog has gotten a makeover. The focus has broadened, as readers will finding me typing away on more diverse topics that encompass a larger range of interests than was initially included in this blog. I hit the reset button. I’ve started fresh. It feels good!

So what exactly are the types of topics likely to be found living here in my reimagined home known as The Honest Apothecary?

Leadership has been a growing interest of mine for over 30 years. I was thrust into a management role directly out of pharmacy school. I learned that I needed to learn a lot. And I learned that I loved it. Thus began my life-long learning adventure in leadership that has guided me through hundreds of books on leadership, conversations on leadership, practical experience in leadership, all culminating (at present) in a significant leadership role in one of the world’s largest and most prestigious cancer institutes.

My life is a daily adventure of sorts. Not that I am climbing mountains in Morocco, or scuba diving in the Sulu Sea. But sometimes even the mundane activities of everyday life become an adventure with just a little bit of imagination. You might hear about my experiences brewing a new beer, or a project that went from minor to major in mere minutes. Expect my hobbies to hobble about this blog from time to time as well.

Staying fit in your fifties can be challenging, especially if your job tends to keep your butt in a chair for most of the workday. Zoom What an oxymoron! Ever since Zoom I haven’t “zoomed” anywhere in years! In what sense am I “zooming” when I hardly move for 8-10 hours a day in online meetings? Oh, and add to this 2-3 hours of commuting time, and you have a fantastic recipe for fat Jason. So I’ve started to workout more. Mostly running. So expect to hear about this from time to time.

Faith is a gift. And those who are truly grateful for a gift will show it. We send a thank-you card for small gifts. But what about really BIG ones? How would you demonstrate your thanks for the greatest possible gift you could ever receive? At the very least, you would talk about it. No? I enjoy talking about my faith, particularly because there is so much misunderstanding about Christianity and faith today. For example, you may be surprised to learn that some of the greatest scientists in the history of the world, such as Newton, Kepler, Pascale, Mendel, Faraday, Anning, Collins, and Picard have been men and women of faith. But mostly I’ll write about my own faith journey, “the pilgrim walk” as we call it, and amazing things Jesus Christ has done for me.

I’m a foodie. I like to cook (a little), and I love finding a delicious little hole-in-the-wall restaurant and spreading some good vibes online for them. I have a gas grill and a smoker grill. I love smoking a pork butt for pulled pork or smoking a turkey for Thanksgiving. I enjoy a craft brewery, a food truck, or a good plate of wings. I’ve never met a plate of nachos I couldn’t nibble on. And while I’m not averse to eating alone, food is always better with family or friends, don’t you think?

Whatever I am writing on, my ultimate goal is not merely to entertain or amuse myself, but to bring value to others. How much value I am bringing will be up to you to decide. Subscribe if you like, or just wander away if you don’t. Either way, I hope you find what you are looking for and enjoy a remarkably full and satisfying life.
